Following the acceptance, on the part of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE), of Milan’s candidature as host city for the 2015 World Expo, the company Expo 2015 S.p.A. was formed to run the event. The company comprises the following institutions as shareholders:
The exhibition will be held from May to October 2015. Countries and organizations from all over the world will take part, and its central theme is “Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life.”
This remarkable, universal event will provide a showcase for tradition, creativity and innovation in the foods sector, presenting an overview of themes that have already been developed in previous Expos and reviewing them in the light of new global scenarios, at the centre of which lies the right to healthy, safe and sufficient food for all people in the world.
Expo 2015 will therefore concentrate on the fundamental importance of continuous, correct nutrition, based on the genuine quality of agricultural and food products, in the context of a system focusing on the conservation of bio-diversity and the environment.
It will also help identify better methods of control and innovation, and of providing new sources of food for the poorest parts of the world.
The attainment of these objectives will enable the promotion of projects by companies operating in all parts of the foods sector, from primary production to catering, including food storage and distribution, with additional support from technological and scientific research centres.
In this remarkable and extensive overview, which will help establish innumerable points of contact between participants, the knowledge of the Italian language will play a central role.
It will provide a useful tool, facilitating communications with local stakeholders. In addition, this large event will facilitate the development of many employment opportunities in which the knowledge of the local language will be fundamental.
Società Dante Alighieri, awarded the status of a moral institution in 1893, and now with a global presence in the form of over 500 Committees, is authorized to issue a Certificate for Italian Language Skills (PLIDA) in accordance with a convention undertaken with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (n° 1903, 04/11/0993) in cooperation with “La Sapienza” University in Rome.
This certificate is recognized by the Ministry for Employment and Social Policy (decree 18/10/2002) and by the Ministry for Universities and Research, as a qualification that facilitates enrolment at universities by students from abroad (convention 9/10/2006).
